In an attempt to avoid the vehicle, the motorcyclist lays his bike down and strikes the vehicle anyway. He sustains a fracture of his leg which requires surgery and hardware placement. The fracture did not initially heal and resulted in a non-union. A follow-up surgery was necessary with additional treatment. This case was settled before trial for $275,000.

General Motors Worker on Motorcycle Severely Injured When Motor Vehicle Pulls Out in Front of Him
While running errands on his motorcycle, an assembly line worker has a motor vehicle from a side road pull out in front of him. The motorist had been waved out by a second motorist. The motorcyclist laid his bike down and sustained a near amputation of his lower leg. The emergency personnel at the hospital were able to re-attach the leg and he has most functioning in the leg. A lawsuit was filed against both the motorist who pulled out in front of the motorcyclist as well as the motorist who waved the other motorist out of the side road. A settlement was reached before trial with the insurance companies for both drivers for their policy limits as well as the underinsured motorist policy limits for the motorcyclist.

TESTIMONIALS

"Right after I suffered a head injury in a fall at one of the local casinos, I hired a lawyer that a friend referred me to because I thought one lawyer was as good as another. Soon I learned otherwise. It wasn't until the neuropsychologist I was seeing referred me to Ed Dougherty that I learned the importance of years of experience and expertise in a lawyer handling this kind of case. Since the settlement of my case by Mr. Dougherty, I have referred and continue to refer all other accident victims that I can to Ed Dougherty because I know he will handle their case with experience and expertise, and will treat them right, just as he did for me."
